Buna Shimeji

Also Known As: Brown Beech

Appearance: Buna Shimeji are small mushromms, which grow in a cluster. The cap is concave and is pale to mid brown in colour, and has a lightly brown speckled effect. The gills of the cap are off white colour. The stem is also a very prominent off white colour and is usually around 7cm long (variable 1-8cm) with the cap size being 1-2cm in diameter.

Characteristics: A very versatile mushroom that adds a unique zesty, nutty flavour to any dish.

Shelf Life: Buna Shimeji has a shelf life of approximately 10 days when kept refrigerated.

Packed: The Buna Shimeji grow in tight clusters and are picked and packed in their clusters.

How to Cook: The individual mushrooms should be removed from the cluster and cooked whole (do not remove the stem, as this contains the flavour!)
